Review on Olympus VN 4100PC Digital Voice Recorder by Montez Vazquez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great Value: Portable AV

The Olympus VN-4100PC offers great value for money. It's ideal for tasks like recording a lecture or meeting, making oral to-do lists, rehearsing a speech or presentation, and so on. Some reviewers say it doesn't record music very well and the playback is mono, and they're right. In fact, it's not intended for professional stereo recording. As with all machines, you must live within your design limits. The VN-4100PC has some very nice features that make it a great value for the money. This picket shirt is small and very light. The controls are simple and intuitive enough that you can operate them from the box without having to read the instructions. (However, the guide does tell you how to perform important setup functions, so be sure to read it.) In short, this is a good, small, and light-weight personal voice recorder. The built-in microphone is actually very good, but if you leave the recorder in your pocket while recording, you will hear quite a bit of ambient noise. The same can happen if you prop it up with a book. There are two ways to get around this limitation inherent in all such recorders. Either place the device on something soft on the table, e.g. B. a coat, or buy an external microphone. An external microphone might be the best option; You get much better electronics, and the mic is easy to crop or place to cut out ambient noise. This is certainly not a high-end professional recorder. It wasn't designed to be alone. Rather, it is a handy and inexpensive personal recorder that does exactly what it is supposed to do. This is excellent value for money. I'm very glad I bought it and would do it again. ------------------ Added June 9, 2009: When I bought my recorder in December 2007, it cost about $50. That's why I called it excellent value for money. The range of functions at this price has not been matched by any competing recorder. However, it's now up to $175. Wow! I wouldn't pay that much for anything! For $175 it should be gold plated!
