Review on VSDISPLAY 1280X480 Screen CLAA088WA01 Controller by Esera Warren

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits 8.8 inch DIY BMW CID

Turns on and works as expected. 5 stars because the SoC driver does NOT show the nasty "Input Detected" graphic when it's enabled and has something to do with an active signal. EDIT: Never mind, it briefly shows "HDMI" when pressing the button to select an input at power up (the screen has power but is "off"). It looks tasteless when the power management tries to turn on the screen with the microcontroller. Ensuring that there is some input before turning it on seems to work, although it would be better if there was a way to just disable these messages. Does NOT come with an adapter. Any 12V @ 2A will work. On the left is the order of the buttons: Power, Select, Back, Up, Down. If you want a DIY head unit and you have a car with such an unusual screen size (e.g. the BMW F25), this is a good choice for OEM support. Display the dashboard without having to reinstall the LVDS on the built-in display. With a little work it will fit snugly into the front panel. You will need to go through the settings and rotate the display 180 degrees (scanning direction 2) in order for it to fit and display properly in the BMW CID faceplate. The LVDS cable is connected with the pins facing up (as in the picture). Two stickers with red arrows were supposed to indicate this, but mine fell off in the package. The MOSFET (U14) on the top left of the board tends to get hot, so a heatsink is recommended.
