where the color of the bristles changes, I assumed it is natural horsehair bristles, like a paint brush. It turns out they are made of glossy plastic and are marked PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) on the packaging. It works quite well, I just wasn't expecting it. I guess I should have read the fine print, but this is the first time I've seen a synthetic bristle brush with multicolored bristles. The problem with synthetic bristles is that they bend and stretch over time, creating a tousled look. Natural bristles can break, but they will not withstand such a bend. Wood to the touch is good, like waxy hardwood, slightly teak but darker. Will definitely not do it again.
