A new stylus usually requires multiple taps with a lot of pressure - and that gets tiring very quickly. Maybe the problem with the new stylus is related to my iPhone, maybe it's a screen protector, maybe it's user error, but none of that bothers the old stylus, so it seems to me that the variable is related to the new stylus. solved the problem more or less. I took a spare nib from my old stylus and used it to replace the nib with a new one. The resulting mod looks a little weird as the diameters of the trunks are slightly different. Also, I lose the benefit of a thinner tip. But now I have a handy pencil-sized pen. And now both the old and new probes are working great. That's how they're supposed to work.
