This is my first dual blade razor without a metal handle. I like the feeling of being held. It is not as slippery as a smooth grip, but of course not as comfortable as a grooved, processed one either. However, it offers enough grip that I feel comfortable using it without worrying about dropping it. The only thing that bothers me about a wooden handle is the potential chance of the wood rotting. Despite all my efforts, I assume that water will eventually get in there. I'll keep it oiled and do my best though, so we'll see. The shave is good. There's nothing that makes the razor stand out in that regard, but it's good and fun to use. I tried it with the included Astra blade and after getting used to the razor I was able to shave without much irritation or bleeding. It's not the most aggressive razor I've ever used, but it's aggressive enough that it only takes me a pass or two to get everything. Otherwise it works like any other three-part razor. It is easy to assemble and disassemble, cleans well and stays curled and taut as you shave - the blades don't dangle. razor. Although the side of the blade isn't sharpened, it's still a piece of thin metal and can cut your hand if you're not careful (there have been). Kudos for that little extra security feature. Second, they contained an Astra blade. The Astra Platinum is a good all round blade and care has been taken to use a higher quality blade than an inferior blade.
