I have a cat that scratches the wall by the door so I bought two of these (from two different sellers, very similar in looks and quality but one is rectangular and the other is square) - one for the space in which they are scratching as a mat and another one on the back door next to the sliding glass door to the backyard (and next to the sofa scratching on the armrest). I have it under or next to my cat scratching post. Cats are not interested in this rug at all. I've never seen it used and it doesn't wear out. I want them to use it. It works well as a doormat on a door, but as a cat mat they don't care.
