Review on XIHOME Industrial Adjustable Lighting Spotlight by Edward Taylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Definitely cool lamps!

I ordered this lamp set in search of good retro industrial studio lamps for the cinema. I've seen a few that I liked but they were either heavy and beautiful but VERY expensive, or they were cheap but the reviews of quality were unfounded. I saw this set of 2 and they looked perfect for my purpose. I was nervous about the lack of reviews but researched the light online and found some good reviews elsewhere. So I went back to Revain, took the chance and ordered. Man, I'm glad I took the risk! They arrived quickly and were well packaged for delivery. No missing parts, no defects. Assembly was very easy - just take the lamp out of one box, then take the stand out of the other box. Attach the lamp to the stand, extend the stand to the desired height and that's it. Adjustable height infinitely adjustable from 3 feet to over 6 feet. Mine is set at about 6 feet and they could go a few inches taller. Materials - metal (maybe some lightweight aluminum?) for lamp poles and housing, metal fittings and some plastic parts. Overall the construction is good and the finish was a nice black colour. Assembly note: When adjusting the height and tightening, remember that there are some plastic parts, so you don't have to fully tighten anything. Just tighten and you're done. Watch out for stability - nothing to worry about, but remember this is a single column with a tripod at the bottom at the base. As big as they are, they can get a little tipsy. So place them away from the roadway in a corner behind furniture where they won't get hit. So you can install and forget about them. If you place them anywhere in the traffic area, they may collide and tip over. There is nothing to fear, you just have to know. Note on light output. Depending on the bulb used, they produce the desired light intensity. I used Edison style bulbs because I wanted warm accent lighting. If you need basic lighting I would recommend LED. This is a standard E26 lamp base. The power cords are quite long and you can place them almost anywhere in any room. The plugs on mine are standard US two-prong plugs. The cords are attached to the body of the lantern, not the poles. I used some plain black zip ties to let the cables hang down the back of the uprights for a neater look. I left the zippers loose enough to allow the cords to slide and adjust the height of the lamp. For the installation in the photos I used a socket with a switch. I connected a short flat extension to put the sofa against the wall. I connected a slide dimmer to it to create different lighting experiences using dimmable Edison bulbs. I connected a 1 to 2 adapter to the dimmer. I connected both lights to it and turned on the footswitches. So now when you use the wall switch, both lamps will turn on at the brightness level set by the dimmer. I am very happy with the decision to purchase these lamps. They look great and provide the exact look, lighting and "feel" I wanted for my theater. I recommend them.
