Review on πŸ”₯ Enhanced Precision with ECG J 045 DS Electric Soldering Temperature Control by Keith Gonzales

I'm starting to get used to it.

I rarely desolder, usually what I do is not fun. I've used this device several times and I seem to get better with practice. I wasn't too impressed at first, it takes a long time to finally warm up, there's a lot of metal on the end of this thing. After proper heating, I was pleased with the results. For me this works much better than a regular solder sucker. I will say that a solder wick works fine if you buy a quality wick, although it's expensive, cheap stuff often doesn't work at all so it's not always a fair comparison, junk within junk. But this thing is good for me, it's definitely a good tool to have on hand. I've had no problems plugging it in, always make sure you blow it out to remove any melted solder before unplugging. I blow it into an empty metal coffee pot so it catches everything and I don't blow the melted solder. Be sure to tin and clean the tip like you would a regular iron, otherwise it will burn the plating and doesn't want to pick up solder and therefore don't want to melt the solder you're trying to remove, which is possible be helpful. Put some solder on the tip to get it flowing. So far the only thing that would make me happier with this unit would be if it heats up faster, but for the price I won't complain. I haven't used it on lead free materials so I'm hoping it has enough heat to handle it, but for old electronics with lead solder it worked fine for removing components.
