I have a 1 Gbps fiber connection. I used to use a plain old ethernet cable with an average speed of over 900Mbps with a direct connection to my modem. I actually used these cables with a new powerline adapter since there are no other ethernet outlets in my apartment. My new power connection to my Smart TV with this cable worked at half WiFi speed right from the start. At first I blamed the powerline adapter, but kept thinking there was no point why a wired connection would be slower than a wireless one. So I went back and tested the cable straight from the modem to the computer, and it showed a consistent 50Mbps, which is pretty terrible for the speed I'm paying for. I'll send them back immediately.
