I have rosacea and very sensitive skin, so I cannot use standard exfoliating granules and scrubs. Most cleaning sponges and brushes are too hard. But this sponge works great and is still intact after two weeks of twice daily use. I was a little surprised by the reviews stating that a product contains charcoal or turmeric. This product doesn't have either, although the company offers a carbon sponge. This product, as shown in the photo, contains only a sponge, some fiber and water. And I'm really not sure where people get the idea that you're using this sans detergent because I don't understand how it's going to cleanse your face. I did not see this information on this packaging or in the description, so I do not know where these instructions came from. Anyway, my cognac sponge, while a bit pricey, was gentle when added to water and gently lathered the cleanser onto my skin, leaving my skin very soft and non-irritating. It's just the right size for my hand and I appreciate a little string with a shower hook so I can hang the sponge to air dry. I gifted the extra one I ordered to a friend and plan on ordering another one in a few months.
