I had to enlarge the Apple Earbuds to get a good seal. However, it took a bit of twisting/repositioning before I sealed both ears. Even then, they didn't feel safe. So I bought them after a lot of people said they work better. Well not for me. No matter what size or what I made, I couldn't get a good seal at all according to Apple's test. Then poke them through the memory foams and flip the rubber apple bugs back over the memory foam so the foam bugs are inside the apple cup. That worked great for me. I've even scaled it down to medium and can deploy it with one quick movement rather than fiddling with it and passing the leak test every time. Also, they now stay in place and feel secure. So I got some benefit from them. As a side note, I think Apple just needs to lengthen the stem of the AirPods a bit to get them in people's ears a bit. This would eliminate many of these types of problems for many. I have a cheaper pair of Soundcore Liberty Neos with a longer stem that fit perfectly every time.
