The magnet is strong enough for my purposes. Not recommended for something like a heavy metal locket, but it holds a good sized resin pendant which I made very well. Remember that it should be easy to separate, otherwise there is no reason to use a magnetic closure. , these are not rare earth magnets, which is good. Bought to make it easier for an elderly woman with arthritis to wear the necklace, she has not reported any problems with these clasps.
