Review on Lipper International 8882 Expandable Organizer by Robin Wilson

Weak rubbish and not worth your time

I gave this one star because I couldn't give it a -1. I ordered this despite warnings in reviews of other products from this manufacturer because one review here was so good and because it was as close to accuracy as possible. The package was well packed, the manufacturer's package arrived intact. When I removed a piece of the card wrapped around it as a label and the plastic shrink wrap covering the organizer, it literally fell apart. The bottom of the organizer trays is very thin. This makes attaching it to the side panels problematic at best. The sides are meant to be attached to the bottom pieces with thin staples. Thin bottom + thin staples = More likely to be missing or split; In the front shelf, these staples missed their target during manufacture and the bottom fell out. This can be attached with wood glue and a clamp. They actually get better when they're glued together because the glue wraps around the rim of the tray. I was going to glue them myself but found a different end piece and tray base of this fragile device that was cracked down the middle and beyond any easy repair. At that point I wrapped it in cling film (the only way I could think of to keep the pieces together for shipping) and arranged for a return. This defect is exactly the same as described in reviews of other products from this manufacturer. It looks like this inferior construction from inferior materials is the norm for this line of products. I received similar items from another manufacturer at the same time. The difference in quality between the Lipper bamboo organizer and other bamboo drawer organizers was obvious. I am a firm believer that any bamboo I buy in the future will not be a Lipper product.
