Bought in case of power outage as we were in an unstable area. We used it once a year ago and then I just tested it again and it works great. My husband had a great idea to turn off the battery until we need it to avoid accidentally draining the battery. So I would advise you to disconnect this cable as it comes out very easily. PROS: Works as advertised CONS: The screw in the charging handle came loose but I just had to screw it back in. If you're using it for your hiking bag, make sure you have a pocket tool to screw it back on if it comes loose. Plus, it also requires AA batteries, as well as a hand crank, so pack some of those as backup if for some reason you don't want to wind it up.
