pronounced edge to hold laptop, large, quiet (but not quiet) fans that direct air well, open vents that restrict airflow less than mesh, no glaring or flashy lighting and reasonable price. It's simple, affordable and effective. The understated design means it won't look out of place on an office desk, but the efficiency still offers plenty of cooling for the gamer or cruncher. My knees used to burn when holding the computer and also blocked airflow to the vents. Now not only do I have a cooler laptop, but my legs are actively cooled! It is effective for most tasks even with the fans off. Their involvement will only be noticeable in a very quiet room.
