We love it! That being said, as my title suggests, this magazine set doesn't have a flame gauge. There is no sheet of transparent plastic or glass to "reflect" the flame off. You need a background or screen behind the tree trunk where the flame will be projected. A privacy screen is a good idea, but not a panacea for an electric fireplace. The flames still don't come out of the logs, in fact this type of log is even worse for the illusion of flames coming out of the logs. I think the fog or mist system or holography, which I haven't seen before, would probably work best for this. My wife and I love this. We even made a special fire for him. The southwest type is built into the corner fireplace. Nice and cozy. We don't use the heating part, but from what I experienced when switching it on, it heats up very well.
