I'm packing for a cross-country trip and eating an incredible amount of food. Last time I did something like this I bought a branded ribbon - it worked like a charm and I had nothing to complain about except the price. However, due to the higher price, I opted for the unbranded or generic version this time and decided to give this tape a try based on the price per roll and the overall positive reviews. Now that I've made a few videos, I feel like I can give a pretty honest and informed review - and to be honest, it's not. Duct tape is definitely better than dollar store clear packaging tape or other super cheap clear packaging tape, but it's definitely not as good as 3M or Duck brands. It sticks reasonably well and doesn't smell, but I found it a little easier to grip when twisting the tape or tipping it during application. It also works well if you're using a manual roller/tape dispenser, but if you're just hand applying the tape and cutting with scissors I'd suggest using a different brand - the tape splits well. 70 to 75% of the time when I try to bend it by hand as it's not as thick and strong as branded material. Since we have an entire house to pack and we only have two rolls of tape (and half the time we only find one when we need one), we end up having to do a lot of hand gluing, which is very inconvenient. I also sell stuff online and prefer to manually tape/cut the tape to mail envelopes and end up wasting a lot of tape because the tape rips. I haven't had the warped core issues that others have, but I also get through it pretty quickly so I may not have had enough time to do it. Overall it's good but not great; I'll probably just spend a little more next time to buy a stamp so I don't have to worry about the breakup. If you're looking to save a few bucks and don't mind or want to use a dispenser, this might be the way to go. Otherwise, spend the extra money on 3M or Duck brand tape. Edit: We've now used multiple rolls in the dispenser and they're not very good or easy to use - the tape is actually pretty sticky so it got stuck. hit the dispenser multiple times as it unrolls and I have issues with it catching on itself as it unrolls causing it to curl and stick to itself. Again, if you're looking to save a few bucks, might it be worth it? But definitely not something I would buy again.
