Ultimately it worked for my specific purposes which means I wanted to dye some - but contrary to some of the reviews I've read it's not linen - it's polyester . It feels and looks like intentionally crinkled linen (which again is what I was looking for), but it's not linen or a natural fiber. (Again - this is normal, I had synthetic dye on hand). They don't really claim the material on the site, but in some reviews it appeared to be linen so I thought I'd make that clear. It's also small (hooray, one size fits all).
