It is completely silent and filling is much easier as you can take it straight to the sink and fill it. The best humidifier I have ever found and my ferns next to it love it in such a minus weather. They usually suffer indoors during hibernation. I haven't found anything I don't like. Update - I bought a second two months after the first one for the room I keep two large gardenias in and this is the first winter my gardenias have not been infected. Insects. If the air around them is too dry, they are susceptible to spider mites, which will cause the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. No problem anymore! I also had a gas cap that needed tightening which I was dealing with a rubber can opener that made it difficult to get it out to fill, so I called their customer service and they sent a new cap, not free. questions were asked. THAT's what I call great customer service. Great company, well made product, very durable and small footprint on the ground.
