I'm a bit surprised that American Airlines certified this carrier. It is not as functional as other Sherpa wearers. The Sherpa Deluxe and Sherpa Delta models are a much better choice. For one, everything collapses when the doors open, making it impossible to put your pet in the carrier. Secondly, the top zipper hole where your pet can put their head is 2"-3" behind the door, which means it will be very difficult for your pet to put their head out of the hole when it is longer than 30.5 cm. Third, I find the size under 16 pounds too generous. This carrier is best for up to 13lbs, I think maybe 14lbs max. You get a lot more room in the Sherpa Deluxe, which also accommodates pets up to 16lbs. And with the Sherpa Delta, you get an extra inch of length, but check with your airline before you buy to see if you can fly on the Delta. I had high hopes for this frame but it doesn't compare to other Sherpa frames. Save yourself the purchase of this stretcher and opt for the Sherpa Deluxe.
