Overall good design but could use improvement

Thule AllTrial X hiking backpack very good. The build quality is what you would expect from a bag at this price point. The zippers are reliable, the thread is excellent. The material is thick and will definitely hold up. It has compression straps and hanging loops, a sternum strap and a lumbar strap with wings but is not detachable. But for me it's good because I never use a bag that doesn't have it. It's a top-loading design, but side zips give you access to the main compartment if you need to dig deeper into your bag unnecessarily. take whatever you need to get to them - very nice. The bag is also very practical. It sits well on my back and lets it breathe well enough. All adjustment straps are easy to adjust. The backpack is not big. At 25 liters it's perfect for commuting and day trips, but for multi-day trips I'd go for something bigger. However, the capacity allows it to be versatile enough for many occasions and use cases. Despite all of its benefits, I have a few complaints. I wish there were more zippered compartments. There are a few, but I'd like a few more. There is also no rain cover in this backpack. At this price I think how it should be. Also, the main shoulder straps, while adequate, are not as soft or plush as I would have liked. It really limits the weight of your content, thus providing comfort for the weight you are carrying. It's a shame as it's my biggest complaint. If the shoulder straps were more durable I might overlook the other issues I had, but looking at all three I have to deduct a star. However, this is a nice, versatile little backpack that could have been even better with a little more thought.

Pros
  • Zippered pocket for snacks and small items
