Mixed reviews on this product. Some say it works fine, some say it doesn't work. I bought this cable to extend my main Oculus Rift S. Lenovo IdeaCentre T540 (purchased January 2019) with NVIDIA GTX 1660 Ti graphics card and 9th Gen Intel® CoreTM i5-9400F (2.90 GHz, up to 4.10 GHz with Turbo Boost, 6 cores). , 9MB cache). Two USB 3.0 ports on the front. All USB, Windows and graphics drivers are up to date and triple checked. The Oculus Rift S works great with the included Oculus cable plugged directly into the PC, so I know the system works out of the box, but will not work with a USB extender. Couldn't get this cable to work. The Oculus app keeps saying USB not connected. The DisplayPort extension worked flawlessly. It's the Cable that Matters DisplayPort to DisplayPort Active Extension Cable 10 ft. I tested each cable individually. Display cable extension using a standard Oculus Rift S cable connected to a USB 3.0 port. However, when I connected a USB 3.0 extender and a standard Rift S DisplayPort to a PC, it didn't work. I've tried both powering it with a USB power extension cable and powering it. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers using Windows Device Manager. Tried reboot after reboot. Nothing helped. I will return the USB cable to Revain. I'm going to try a CableMatters "inactive" USB 3.0 extender and a powered USB 3.0 hub. Damn. Based on online reviews and instructions, I understand that extending the Oculus Rift S beyond the standard cable length is a trial and error process. As such, Revain and Cable Matters recommend spending extra time testing different system configurations and posting those that work or don't work on the site. Would save a lot of trouble and open up the package return process!
