Really good stove that could have been perfect

First burn test This stove does everything it was designed to do and does it well. The materials are of excellent quality and the construction is very good. There was protective plastic on the flame regulator that had to be removed before use or it could result in WTF. The legs fold down for storage. The pot stand/windbreak is large enough for most camping/hiking pots, but can pose a problem for small cups. The burner with alcohol is on a stand without a positive locator. This has both advantages and disadvantages. Alcohol is poured into the tank through the central pipe and into the outer preheating zone. Maximum level indicators are obvious. There are 3 "ears" at the top of the center tube that hold the flame regulator (this worked best for me). The top regulator rotates freely on the regulator body, making it easy to adjust the flame. The folding arm had a retractable extension (not shown) for safety. The burner must be positioned so that the flame regulator is fully open and the swing arm rests against one of the pot supports so it can be moved to another pot support to reduce the flame opening. Eyelets on the full tube hold the regulator body in place. Flame control is not instantaneous as the heat from the burner controls the vaporization of the alcohol. With the control lever extended and the pot standing on the stand, you can control the flame without having to remove the pot. I didn't measure the burn time because it depends on the flame regulator, but it's quite comparable to the Trangia burner. I didn't do a cooking time test either. When unpacking the oven for the first time, pay attention to the storage bag. It's a little silly, but when you repackage your oven it will make a lot of sense. The bag has 2 straps. First set up the stove together with the measuring cup. Tighten the top drawstring, then tuck the top of the bag into the bottom half on top of the stand. Place the burner in the inverted top half and then close the whole thing with the second drawstring. The instructions are multilingual but a bit sparse. FWIW, I tested the stove on ethanol fireplace fuel with no flue. Why not 5 stars? The base burner size is a few millimeters larger in diameter than the trangia burner which means I cannot use this fire maple burner in kilns that use a trangia burner. This added versatility would make the burner much more valuable to me. Also, the lack of a stop on the stand means the torch can slide around. This does not affect the functionality of the stove, but it annoys me. As I said at the beginning, this oven does everything it is designed to do and does it well. But in the end it doesn't look like an oven to me.

Pros
  • Camping stove
Cons
  • Little repairability
