Inexpensive webcam with better image quality than Wedcam

I've had better webcams but they all had terrible quality in less than perfect lighting and mediocre quality in perfect studio lighting. I used $12,000 film cameras for internet streaming when the big brand "webcams" were unacceptable in terms of image quality. But I needed multiple overhead views, and the 35-pound film camera was too big to hang over my head. So I started looking around. A few companies made HD cameras with HDMI output, but they were quite expensive. I've also tried using a $1700 DSLR for a while with great results, but it seems like a waste of a camera to use it as a webcam all the time. That's where this little Mokose block came into play. It's far from perfect, but the image quality is significantly better than big brand webcams that sell for almost the same price as this camera. Image quality can be significantly lower on expensive cameras under certain limited circumstances. What it lacks is color gamut and dynamic range. Compared to the best cameras I've used, I have to live with blurry shadows and blurry highlights. In mixed lighting, fluorescent lights are too blue and warm white lights appear too orange, while expensive cameras see the scene like the human eye, where it looks natural. Given these limitations, and the fact that the lens has significant dispersion distortion despite being surprisingly straight, I still think it performs well for the price it's sold for. It's also light enough to be mounted on a swing arm above a bench or piano keyboard, making it suitable for those purposes. The lens focus of this camera is adjusted manually. It's not parfocal (it only comes in cine lenses starting at $4,000), so zooms are fuzzy. Adjust the zoom level first, then refocus. The lens "breathes" a lot, so after focusing it may be necessary to adjust the zoom factor and then take the last focus to set it. This is best suited to static installations where you set it up as a security camera and forget about it. Overall, the price-performance ratio is reasonable. Hope it proves reliable.
