Ignore old reviews! This is a great buy for May 2021!

When I bought this I didn't really know what product I was getting. The reviews were very mixed and sometimes contradictory. Turns out they were shipping an updated version of this keyboard by the purchase date, 5/4/21, which most of the reviewers had received. The new version is great! This is the serial number starting with 21. I wanted to write a review to clear up any confusion for future buyers. First, Bluetooth and wireless 2.4 connectivity is great, no firmware update required. I was able to walk into another room and still stay connected via Bluetooth 5 and stand about 10 feet away via Wireless 2.4. I didn't notice any lag when typing, and never waited for it to connect after waking from sleep (at least with 2.4 connectivity, I only used Bluetooth for testing). I'm not a big keyboard enthusiast, but this keyboard feels good to type on. While they claim the same actuation force, the brown shifters are a little stiffer compared to the brown gate I came from. The board has a comfortable weight. The lighting is sharp and bright when you need it. The battery is the best thing about this board. I've been using it for two weeks with Wireless 2.4 from a full charge. The backlight is mostly off except for a few hours at night when it was on the 2nd minimum brightness level. When I just connected my Chromebook for Bluetooth testing, it said the battery had dropped to 70% after 2 weeks! I was going to give 4 stars because of the software but since it's optional it seems unfair. It's functional and, as far as I can tell, not malicious. However, the updates are questionable. When I tried to update the firmware, the keyboard got stuck temporarily. Disabling and connecting wireless fixed it, no idea why. Attempting to update the software/firmware later resulted in errors. If you need to create macros or change lighting effects, this is perfectly applicable, but I'd skip it if you don't. And in no case do not update the firmware if there is no new information about it on the page (currently it says updated on 04/23/21). Overall I think this is a great keyboard, especially for the price. I was looking for a 75% wireless keyboard and finally decided between it and keychron k2. I chose to bet on it because it had more features and customization options. I'm very glad I did. Highly recommended!
