I first ordered this product directly from another website a year and a half ago and it worked great immediately after purchase and is still working well. It worked so well I decided to buy another one. I noticed that the price of this product on Amazon is a little lower than the website I ordered before. So I ordered from amazon.com. The flash got to my house on time and appeared to be in good condition. I tested it right out of the box and it seems to work fine. However, when I used it on my camera, none of my photos came out. Only half of each photo was visible, the other half was completely black. No matter what I did, I always got the same result. I called Amazon customer service and returned the item with no problems. After my defective flash was successfully returned, I decided to try again and order another one. I ordered again from Amazon and received the flash with no problems. The flash seemed to work just like my other device with and without a camera for about 15 minutes. The engine in the Flash immediately began to have problems. This only happened occasionally at the time, and a quick press of the power button seemed to fix the problem for another 100 flash photos or so. I did not return this unit as I had to photograph a wedding and was desperate for backup and didn't have time to wait for another one to arrive in the mail. Over time, the problem with the engine was no longer a problem. An even bigger problem was that the flash sometimes wouldn't turn on when it went to sleep mode. While filming a wedding last weekend, he decided to turn himself in. During the wedding it went off and wouldn't come on again. After that I was able to turn on the device but it doesn't boot or blink. I think it's safe to say that this device died after six months of use. In summary I think this is a good flash for the price when it works. Of course, if you get a device and have problems with it, you will hate it. If you get this device and have no problems with it, you will love its price. My first device is still working great and as I said I've had it for about a year and a half now. The other two devices I ordered started showing problems within 15 minutes of unpacking them. I personally don't order anymore. In my experience, the chances of getting another bad block are too high.
