Review on Brydge 10.2 Wireless Keyboard | Compatible with iPad 9th, 8th & 7th Generation | Backlit Keys | Extended Battery Life | Silver by Steve Cooper

I've been using mine for less than 48 hours so read my review with that in mind. I am very impressed with the quality of this keyboard. It's about everything I expected and more. Small cons first: 1. The texture of the case doesn't quite match the texture of the iPad; The keyboard is slightly rough, the color is almost the same.2. The key illumination is about twice as bright (subjective opinion, not measured) as I expected. It is habitable.3. I think for the price, Brydge really could include a simple nylon sleeve for paired devices. I need to find one that will protect them when I stuff them in my purse. It would be nice if an Apple Smart Cover would also fit in the case if I want to use the iPad separately from the Brydge.4. How much would the cost of the product increase if the keyboard's charging port was a lightning connector instead of micro-USB? A few bucks? This forces me to carry an extra cable in case the keyboard battery dies on the go. Now to the pros: This product makes a high-quality impression. Everything about him seems solid. Together, these two devices create the perfect ultra-light laptop. Bluetooth pairing is very easy, keyboard shortcuts are exactly what you would expect them to be if you've ever used a Mac. Switching input languages works out of the box (although for some reason iPadOS defaults to caps lock, so initially your caps lock won't work as caps lock until you change that setting). App switching works with Command-Tab, there's a home button right where the escape button would be on a Mac that works the same way as pressing the home button on an iPad, and a lock button next to it that does the same works like the "lock" button on the iPad. There's also a keyboard button that brings up an on-screen keyboard for a few things you can't type directly on the Brydge (macro letters like ō; the degree symbol for entering the oven temperature, if I Write recipes like 350°F).. There are buttons to control the backlight, pause/play, rewind and volume of the iPad. The forks that hold the iPad in place are very secure, enough to lift the entire iPad , without dropping the keyboard (although I probably wouldn't recommend that as a matter of principle.) The keyboard itself is bound to be narrower than a full pitch, but it's no worse than the HP Mini 110 netbook I've owned had a few years ago, and the buttons themselves feel good. More importantly, typing on this keyboard is a huge step up from typing on the onscreen keyboard, especially if you tend to type a lot like me. differ significantly and even differ from version to version of the operating system (don't even remind me what Apple did with text selection operations in iOS 13). Using the Brydge keyboard, which has a more standard layout, is much better than trying to remember five different layouts every time you switch devices. Since I type Japanese a lot and the iPadOS Japanese keyboard is awful (I can't figure out why Apple couldn't just use the same kana-flick keyboard as on the iPhone), you can switch languages and type in Japanese without locking your fingers Taking off the Brydge keyboard makes using my iPad much easier. There are very few suggestions I could make to improve this product other than fixing the minor bugs I listed above, but what comes to mind the most is that it seems to me that the bulk of the keyboard could easily hold a large battery that could be used as a power bank for iPad or external devices. Overall I am very happy with my Brydge and would highly recommend it to any iPad owner. Update December 29, 2020: The battery in my keyboard lasted about a week before the "Charge Me" light came on. That's a lot less battery life than advertised; however, this is more than I actually expected. Update: 06/10/2021: Battery life strangely seems to be longer now. But one problem I've found is that the glue that attaches the rubber feet to the bottom doesn't last very long, which is a common problem in the computer industry. It got sticky and the front paws started to separate. After a few months, when it was only one leg, the second one started to loosen. So last night I cleaned the legs and case with Goo Gone and isopropyl alcohol, neither of which harmed the finish of the case, and lubricated each leg with clean silicone sealant. I pressed them open and let them sit for 24 hours for the sealant to set. Now they seem to be much more securely fastened. I have not attempted to contact the manufacturer to see if they can supply replacement feet.
