It's always good when you get up and see your camera lying on the floor next to a torn, worn strap. Mine seem to last about 2-3 years before being eaten away by the Texas heat/sun. This mountain is the way. The design is well thought out. You screw a coarse screw into the wood (or rod or whatever) that will be your mount, and then you screw the mount onto the mount. You can do it freehand or use pliers or a multi-tool, but all in all it takes less than 5 minutes and the end result is a very, very strong mount that can be easily adjusted up and down, left and right. Correctly. It attaches to a standard tripod mount with a male screw (think 1/4-20). If your camera has a female thread at the bottom, there is a 99% chance it is correct. It also comes with some rubber washers if you need to attach the camera base to the mount. I think mine had 6 and I used 2. Can't recommend highly enough. This is my second and if I need another one I will buy it.
