Just received a KZ ZS7 DD+4 BA IEM setup. First impressions. Warm, soft and spacious sound. Detail is pretty good, and you can clearly see the layers when the music gets fast or complex. Bass has excellent extension (better than the Andromeda for that matter) and stays in place for the most part. The controls are good, but not as tight and intuitive as Andromeda. Andromeda is qualitatively more perfect and carefully staged. The mid-range frequencies of the ZS7 are reproduced openly and clearly. The tonality favors the upper midrange and sometimes robs this frequency of warmth. Detail extraction is surprisingly good, and the subtle nuances I hear on my Andromedas can be picked up on the ZS7 too. The high frequencies are stretched but also don't cut through or cause peaks in certain areas. Compared to the glorious heights of Andromeda, the ZS7 is a little more reserved in its approach, hampering the latter's ability to extract detail and layer when needed. The ZS7's superb high frequencies create a fairly spacious soundstage. In general, at $50, the ZS7 cannot be stolen. Despite this, I still love my Andromedas, but Chi-Fi has also shown me that price is no longer strongly correlated with performance. π
