Allows camera to be attached to a standard microphone tripod thread. However, consider how to adjust the angle. My original idea of mounting it on a weighted base monopole mic stand didn't work out because I wanted to get excellent recordings. Without any flexibility, I was limited to photographing the horizon - no overhead shots. I added a small adjustable pole to the mic stand and placed the camera on the top of the pole, which solved the problem. I also opted for a tripod-based mic stand, which is lighter and allows you to tilt a little when supporting your leg. I'm not sure if the gooseneck is stable enough for long exposures. I didn't have that, so I went with a standard arrow on a tripod.
