This type of product is not a necessity, but rather an acquisition to improve the quality of life. I don't think everyone needs this, but here are some thoughts I can share if you're considering this type of product. I bought two of these laptops. Before I bought the first one I had a cheap plastic desk with cushions. After a year of use, the padding on the underside was flat in places and couldn't be distributed well. It had a ridge to hold the laptop's edge, but MacBooks sometimes slipped along its curved edges at odd angles. Overall I benefited from it and at first I liked it when it was fresh and I could work from any room in the house. I work from home via the internet. So in December 2019 I bought this bamboo lap table to replace my old one. I moved February next year, lost my first one and bought a second one because I liked it. a little rough. It's not smooth, but it's not scratchy either. It's polished to a certain extent. The friction from the roughness helps a lot in keeping the laptops steady. I liked it compared to my first kneeling table which had a slippery surface. This was normal for laptops with rubber feet, but not for MacBooks. A ledge that keeps the laptop from sliding towards you is great for that. It has square edges to prevent the laptop from jamming and sliding forward. The bottom is made of foam. That's convenient. I don't know what the styrofoam looks like inside, I'll report back next year. The lower retractable part makes it very comfortable to sit on the floor. This provides additional stability, for example when you are sitting cross-legged. It's just a valve with foam inside. What I don't like is that the foam underneath the tablet/pen holder is consecrated. Looks like they could bond the foam to the bamboo at the factory before cutting a hole for the plastic insert. Instead of just cutting the bamboo, the foam underneath is cut. This affects the structural integrity of the front right foam. I believe if there are any problems, this area will be the first to have problems. All in all, I think it was a good purchase. It just depends on whether you actually use it.
