I've had it for 3 nights now and have some good first impressions. I will update later if anything changes. I give this 3.5 stars. I love this product. This is my first time trying the topper so I can't compare it to others but I can comment on the before and after aspects. Delivery, unpacking and installation: It arrived quickly and the box was in good condition. Opened and all on one roll with a handy information pack that no one will ever read and an opening tool. I cut off all the plastic with a tool (there are plenty of those) and started unpacking. Immediately I noticed that the foam was sticky as it expanded. Removing the top of the plastic-wrapped pillow was half like removing soft glue. It smelled somewhat chemically but not acrid and quickly disappeared. I shook everything out and spread out both halves to air. The foam quickly expanded and reached its full size (as far as I could tell) within minutes. However, I left it on for a few hours to dissipate the smell and I noticed that the stickiness was mostly gone too. I threw it on my bed that night. I had no odor issues for 4 hours after unpacking (no I didn't wait all day to use it but let's face it how much the cotton will expand after 1 hour compared to 15 hours after foam exposure might have had a greater effect, but it seemed and felt like it had gone as far as intended). I didn't put the pillowcase in the dryer, just shook it vigorously. The material makes a quite durable impression. The only weak point I noticed when putting it on is how flimsy the sheet part is. It can be prone to breakage over time. The fabric covering the top of the pillow is soft and comfortable to the touch, if not rough. It should be soft and fluffy, and it does. The foam is nice, the density is soft, and the bit of stickiness that was left actually helped anchor the foam in place and keep the top of the pillow where it should be. Sleep: Many reviews say it sleeps very hot. If you're already sleeping on memory foam, it's consistent if not slightly cooler for a pillow topper that has some breathability. I bought this to cushion my current memory foam mattress to relieve back, hip and knee pain. . I'm 5'10, 160lbs. verdict in a few nights. It's good. It's beautiful, it's soft, it cradles you comfortably. It has helped my hip and knee pain and I can actually lie on my back without worrying about my legs which is great. It doesn't support the spine very much so my back still hurts a bit. It keeps me from tossing and turning as much, which is good too. If you and your partner sleep separately or sleep alone, it may be more effective for you. My husband loves to snuggle and our combined body weight makes the bed more bowl shaped than a body support with this pad. I plan on getting an extra lumbar pillow for my back and then I think I'll be fine. Because the foam is so soft, it's not really structurally designed to push the back curve of your spine that much, so I'm not mad about that. I really walk with my feet on the bed and stretch more to enjoy the overall softness. I'm really surprised at how much this affects the overall feel of the bed. The only thing I can think of is that the top of the pillow doesn't match the padding a bit. It's fluffy and naturally moves a little. The stitching pattern keeps things in place well for the most part. The edges seem to have extra fluff and some pockets feel better packed than others, but it's far from lumpy or uncomfortable. I can always run it through the dryer or shake it again to distribute it. I'm a little wary of taking it too long to dry as that's what it looks like and washing is the most likely cause of problems, so I'm putting it off for as long as possible. Final Thought: Don't be angry. As long as it's worth the money. This of course changes the rules of the game. It's life changing, not really. I'm not deciding if I would buy it again to see how well it wears/holds up. Although overall good. I'm happy with that.
