My new car radio was the victim of a screeching alternator. First I did as others suggested and connected it to another ground. It was still very bad. I bought it hoping to eliminate noise but was very skeptical. I connected it to a permanent battery cable and it worked great. The only downside of this product is the lack of instructions. I had to look up instructions from competing products to find out. The red wire comes from the side of the car from the solid battery wire. Blue is on the radio side, black is connected to chassis ground (I connected mine to the same ground my stereo is connected to). Hope that helps!
