motion sickness treatment etc.). The downside associated with them, however, is that various transdermal patches claim to be waterproof but aren't or have very limited tolerances for water exposure on either side of the patch (not that their manufacturers acknowledge this) - hence, although many manufacturers do and your product literature claims that your patch can withstand the effects of water from bathing, swimming and/or exercising/sweating, it can be an expensive and frustrating lesson to learn that a particular patch is not truly waterproof so you don't interrupt it may work or otherwise abnormal. without changing the use of the patch. In addition, the adhesive material associated with various transdermal patches may "melt" somewhat when exposed to heat/warmth that may differ from another part of the body (and your own body heat) impinging on it if accidentally prolonged contact is applied occurs at this point, or may be due to heat from warm water (e.g., hot baths suddenly become a problem), or may be due to heat (not to mention the accompanying sweating resulting from) an increase in body temperature associated with exercise be due. I didn't know what product would actually impregnate a transdermal patch, let alone in a way that wouldn't disturb the patch or irritate the skin. not to mention that they adapt to the skin being moved etc. (and ideally not leading to any "pulling" of the external product etc. [be it by the glued attachment to the skin or by its attachment to /on the transdermal patch ]). I tried new improvised alternatives but to no avail (which wasn't a surprise but I still didn't know what to use). While I suspected that the solution to the problem was most likely related to the product type of tape, I didn't know which tape could/would meet the requirements and would accommodate the appropriate limitations. could have done under such circumstances, I stumbled across an old post on a site I had never heard of before and am grateful to the person I will never know who casually mentioned Hy-Tape. a little, and in closing with cautious optimism that this might be what I was looking for, I had to figure out what size to go (which is a good problem - good thing this product comes in a variety of widths) - I knew not sure which of several different sizes might fit best (partially because I didn't know how much "extra" tape would be needed beyond the top of the tape edges). - transdermal patch to create enough "zone" around the patch to provide the patch with a "safe perimeter" and prevent water ingress, not to mention normal exercise etc and not in the near the transdermal patch] in case any edges of the patch are accidentally damaged). When choosing the size/width, the first circumstance I chose as a "test" was a long hot bath with a Hy-Tape coated transdermal patch fully submerged in hot water for over 2 hours. Prior to this crucial test of the Hy-Tape's viability (as the life-threatening solution I needed it for), long hot soaks were something I almost avoided due to the transdermal patch's lack of true waterproofing. Hy-Tape has proven itself to be a champion. I nearly cried; I was so relieved that I can now take hot baths again (they are relaxing and great for soothing muscles, and not being able to take hot baths was like suddenly removing some form of stress relief from my life, haphazardly and & without my involvement in this matter). Even a hot bath can (and often does) make you sweat - and I've found this to happen in the early stages of a hot bath (I do it almost like a sauna at first) - but Hy-Tape came through it with no problems ( which is also a good sign for training). The Hy-Tape also stayed in the shape of my skin and kept the transdermal patch waterproof when I did a little stretching in the hot tub (and not just bending over - I'm talking twisting, acrobatic movements, strrrrrrrrrrrrr-like movements [partially relieved by the warmth of the water, which is partly why suddenly not being able to take a hot bath has become such a dilemma for me - soaking and stretching chicken in hot water is part of mine way of maintaining and maintaining my flexibility]) . I'm glad Hy-Tape stayed and stayed after. Hy-Tape does its job and it does it well. The only thing I had to "adjust" to was my understanding (on first use) that what I was seeing in the flexibility of the band on my skin was completely normal - the funny thing is that most products that showing such flexibility, essentially different from what they were originally attached to, but with the Hy-Tape product it was still appropriate, but it just did its job better than I'm used to, anything in this product category (and questioning most of what I've seen before when it comes to different experiences with skin attached items). I am so thankful for this product (and thankful that it is latex free). Little did I know that one day I would rely on a medical grade waterproof tape compatible with sensitive skin to help me get some of my life back, but I did and do. I'd also like to add that another reviewer's comment regarding using Hy-Tape to protect against scars (not to mention tropical sun exposure) is something I hadn't even thought of but found relevant to me, in more ways than one - I will be using Hy-Tape. Duct tape to protect a skin biopsy site that is continuing to heal and is not well served by high sun exposure (and while I will protect it already, I don't want to risk it getting even the slightest sunburn from clothing, nor do I really want to with " regular" sunscreen [which tends to have a lot of inactive ingredients that I don't want to apply to the biopsy site] - so I add Hy-Tape as a protective barrier to the biopsy site [and also under clothing] when I'm in bright sunlight - and interestingly Hy-Tape does not contain Zinc Oxide which, in addition to its local soothing effect on the skin, is an effective sunscreen as a broad-spectrum physical entity [rather than a chemical block] against UVA and UVB rays [this aspect of Hy-Tape use to protect sensitive skin from the sun would be appropriate in many circumstances]). I am grateful that another reviewer mentioned using this product to protect scars and its successful use to protect Hy-Tape covered skin from the sun in a tropical setting. In addition, there are reviews of other sizes of Hy-Tape. Tape mentioning a product used for attaching medical tubing to resist movement during sleep, for attaching ostomy products to allow swimming, and for use as medical tape for people with sensitive skin (and lack of Latex would be crucial for people with latex allergy) . Hy-Tape did what it promised for me in every way. Thought it might be worth going further and including some excerpts from the manufacturer's website --< The soft zinc oxide adhesive holds but releases gently. Protection of delicate skin. Hy-Tape actually resists moisture, follows the contours of the body and adheres firmly to oily and hairy skin. And best of all, it doesn't break down over time, leaving skin intact for faster healing and fewer infections. >Among the multiple uses listed on the manufacturer's website -- In relation to use in neonatal intensive care units -- < Hy-Tape is ideal for the sensitive skin of newborns. It flexes as you breathe when attaching the tube and bandages and can be easily removed without injuring the skin. >< For plastic surgery applications, Hy-Tape provides a strong adhesive that flexes with tissue to hold devices in place while allowing them to be easily removed without harming sensitive skin. >This is an impressive product and more importantly one that does what it says on the tin and that people can rely on in a variety of (and critical) situations that require a delicate balance between product strength (relative to adhesion and the ability to move body to resist) require /skin movements) - but - flexibility and tenderness (not only moving with the skin as it moves with the body [and getting stuck], but with its force component it moves with the wound tissue, such as .the tape stays in place but won't damage delicate tissue or skin). The fact that Hy-Tape is used to secure tubing and bandages to the skin of infants in the NICU speaks volumes when it comes to balancing strength and tenderness in critical circumstances. 5 meter lengths in the following widths: 1/4", 1/2", 3/4", 1", 1-1/2", 2", 3", and 4". Finally, the manufacturer's website conveys that the manufacturer offers a free sample.
