In general it's not scary. Don't expect too much from a mini hair straightener. It doesn't get very hot and definitely not for thick hair or very curly/wavy hair, but it's fine if you're just using it in your purse or for bangs or touch-ups on the go. I don't even use it, just keep it handy because you never know I guess.
