Review on 🎭 Mehron Makeup SynWax: Professional 10 oz Synthetic Modeling Wax by James Gibson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product at a great price

First of all I would like to say that I am by no means a professional. I'm an ordinary girl who wanted to experiment with new things for a Halloween look. After watching a few Halloween makeup tutorials on YouTube, I jumped at the chance and started packing my bags to achieve my friggin' look. Speaking of costs: For €14 you definitely get a lot on offer. 8 ounces is a lot and will likely suffice for numerous future Halloween events. It comes in a medium sized plastic case and is very well packaged. As for the product: it is very hard and thick. The texture resembles candle wax. When I first opened it I thought the container was cracked because it was so dry and hard, but then I realized that if I worked on it with my hands it would become pliable. No bad smell or anything. The color is light beige. One of the main downsides I noticed while using it was that it is VERY difficult to work with. No matter how much petroleum jelly/oil/lotion I used, they always stuck to my hands and were difficult to blend into my skin. One of the key factors that struck me was that you shouldn't knead it too hard. (**Don't forget to put some kind of lube on your fingers and hands first, roll it over your palms a few times and apply to clean skin. Overdoing it will make it too soft and sticky to use , and then a huge blob of unusable wax remains.) 1/8 bottle of alcohol chewing gum, and an hour and a half later my main "scar" was done (no makeup/special effects, just wax). In terms of flexibility, it's malleable but not forgiving unless you put a layer of liquid latex on top. After several thin coats were applied to my scar, it no longer felt waxy and allowed me to pinch, twist and tear the scar without touching my hands. Once that was done I applied some foundation, set with powder and then finished the rest of my makeup/special effects. All in all I recommend this product. This is a great product at a fantastic price. The only reason I rate it 4/5 is that it is very difficult to work with. Put simply, it's difficult to work with if you're not patient. It's messy, tricky, incredibly sticky, and difficult to use, but if you have enough determination, it really works.
