Well made, frustratingly boring color

The bag appears to be well made and stylish and for these reasons I'll end up keeping it to myself. HOWEVER, the color is significantly darker than in these photos. A very disappointing photo showing very light brown skin that looks shiny. What I got was an incredibly dull, unattractive brown. I'm not sure if it's real leather either, but I can't prove it. I don't use it as my main purse just to hold stuff during work meetings that isn't worth sending back and I don't think any of the items shown would be brighter.
