There are several shortcomings, in principle, it corresponds to the norm.

So what's my fault? ! The fact that IOS ates slow down the Iphone, and sometimes turn it into a useless "brick" is not a secret - buy it, use it, throw it away, buy a new one. But the fact that the OS ate will disable the MacBook, I could not even think. Agreeing with Apple's proposal to ate the OS, I directly pressed the only button provided for this on the corresponding page of the official Apple Store. This could not in any way imply the occurrence of unforeseen costs in the amount of the cost of the SSD, as well as other inconveniences. Or does ating the operating system through the AppStore always involve the risk of data loss and damage to the computer? ! Did not know. And the download page doesn't say anything about it. I understand that my contribution to Apple funding through the acquisition of a dozen devices is ridiculously small on a global scale, but the attitude towards the client is discouraging. At the time of purchase, despite all the shortcomings (a weak video chip, a non-touch screen with a mediocre resolution and thick frames, a high price, the impossibility of copying information to an external drive without additional β€œdances”, and of course a peculiar operating system), in terms of battery life there were simply no competitors. Luckily, there are plenty to choose from. As a result, I made a conclusion for myself: when installing software from the AppStore, despite the fact that the Apple device is supported, it is likely that the result of this will be its failure and no natural and adequate actions aimed at restoring the damage caused by Apple are not will follow. Perhaps everything will go fine with the installation, but trying to ate MacOS to High Sierra on a MacBook Air is now a warning, and as it turns out, this is far from the only case. In general, the attitude towards Apple and its products has changed by an order of magnitude. For now, I'll use what I have. But I do not plan to purchase any new products from Apple. I do not impose my opinion on anyone, everything is as it was. Maybe it will be useful to someone.

Pros
  • Apple MacBook Air mid 2022 (Z0P0) 13.3, i7, 8Gb, SSD 500 Gb, purchased in 2022. at the official dealer. Build quality, battery life.
Cons
  • OS X ate messed up the SSD. In December 2022, I saw another offer to upgrade the system to MacOS High Sierra in the App Store. However, there are no reviews about the system on the page now (they used to be near each application offered for installation), the developers have now excluded this possibility (apparently, in order to avoid . ). Believing that Apple only offers tested and naturally working software, I began the installation. After reboot: "Your computer cannot install macOS. The path /System/Installation/Packages/OSinstall. Mpkg appears to be missing or corrupted. Complete the installer to restart your computer and retry the operation. " After repeated reboots, neither the new nor the old OS X started up. The steps recommended by Apple support also gave zero result, the laptop does not display the SSD correctly. We tried it ourselves through a remote connection - the result is the same, they recommended contacting an authorized SC. The service center was unable to fix the disk error caused by the software installation. Three weeks later, the verdict: β€œSSD replacement required. ” Installing macOS High Sierra from the Apple Store caused the SSD to malfunction, turning the MacBook into a non-working and useless device, not to mention losing all information from the SSD. Unfortunately, I didn’t create a backup, now it’s clear why Apple strongly recommends doing this. Considering replacing the SSD at my own expense as inappropriate (more than 40 thousand) and not fair for my agreement to ate OS X, I again turned to Apple Support, resigned to the impossibility of using the MacBook for a long time and the loss of all data stored on the SSD. The issue was forwarded to Apple Engineering, which I was told resolved after another two weeks: "Because the MacBook has expired, Apple does not intend to address this issue. " He asked me to send me an official answer, which I never received. Support stopped responding to subsequent requests.
