These shoes are great apart from the poor quality white leather laces that Sperry used on them. I never thought laces could ruin the look of a shoe, but in this case they ruin the look. As soon as I unpacked, I noticed tiny white flakes all over the tarpaulin, and every time the laces are tied or untied, more and more small white flakes fall out. Roof and soil and my hands! It's uncomfortable and unsightly, and the flakes don't come off the fabric surface easily! After putting them on and sorting them out a second time, I decided to just pull the laces all the way out, then had to spend time with a lint roller and tape to get wet and remove any white flakes anywhere on and inside the shoe. Too bad I didn't take a picture beforehand and threw away the laces. I ordered some standard round white polyester laces elsewhere to replace these leather laces that I threw away. I have bought other Sperry pumps with the same leather laces and the same problem, luckily I can wear these shoes without laces and look good that way, but these Sperry style sneakers need laces to stay securely on the legs . . I didn't have to go to all that trouble to make the shoes comfortable and presentable but I love the shoes myself and I got a lot of money so I didn't want to return them. I've owned many pumps with leather laces my whole life and have never had any chipping, so this is definitely a system-wide defect with Sperry leather laces in multiple shoes. Disappointing!
