I prefer metal backs but these work
I really prefer metal earring backs as they are easier to hold to insert wire but plastic ones work. There are two types in the box: with a lid and with a simple cylinder. I found the ones with the back cover hard to hold, although easier to position than the cylinders. But it's better to use both ways than neither and you won't lose your earring.
