This is supposed to be real leather, but it feels rather cheap to me. It's got that 1970's shiny, gaudy brown finish and absolutely NO leather smell.It's also got a weird center of gravity. Both ends of the strap are sewn onto one flat side of the bag. (See pics). So if you have anything heavy in the bag--it hangs forward. Just odd.It seems to be relatively sturdy, although I think the outside will get scratched and scuffed pretty easily--which only matters if looks matter I guess.The canvas strap is highly durable and tough and thick. It has one outside pocket that has no closure--so just for sliding papers into and such. The other outside pocket on the other side has a snap--but it doesn't meet the other side--so it won't snap shut--they are offset too much. Again--weird and cheap.Inside has one zipper compartment the full size of the bag--that sits in the middle between two open areas of the bag and there are two loops to hold pens/pencils.
