This case is more durable than the original case it replaces. The design differs slightly in that the original fiberglass cover has a cutout on the back for a metal grille that protects the air conditioner condenser coils. Slots are molded into this lid to allow air to flow through the back of the lid. I found that the combination of the new slots in the lid and the old metal grille significantly reduced the total area available for airflow, so the old metal grille was removed. The new cover provides adequate protection for the condenser coils. Nine of the ten screw holes on the sides of the cover lined up with no problem, but I had to drill a new hole in the AC base to install the tenth screw. I also found that the top of the lid sags in the middle which could cause water to pool on the top of the lid. I solved this problem by adding a foam block between the air conditioner top frame and the cover. If there was some sort of spacer, loop or block on the lid to prevent sagging I would give this item five stars as otherwise it is a great product.
