First the bad. This product allows you to ride on the hood throughout your journey. You have room for your hands horizontally on the bar, but then they're exposed to the elements and you only have a liner/glove for warmth. This works for short lifts, but then you need to warm up your hands with mittens. Okay, now to the good stuff. This product allows you to comfortably dive into the extreme cold areas where I'm used to freezing my hands with lobster and liner/shell gloves. I ride at 5 degrees Fahrenheit with the glove I normally use at 45 degrees. Anything over 35 degrees and you don't even need a glove. Also great for protecting your hands from snow and rain, just don't drip into your mittens when you're pedaling. When the temperature reaches 43 degrees, you can take off your gloves and go to them alone. Even if you need to change or take off your mittens, they fit easily into your Chrome Bag on your commute. Possible objections Some people may worry about having their hands free in an emergency. Trust me, you can remove your hands without thinking. Reverse hand insertion also becomes second nature and over time the mittens will mold to your hands. The large one is a little tight (6ft 3in and wide arms) so really round it up when choosing your size. Lessons Learned If you have exposed cables, order a Shimano type. If your cables run under the handlebars, order the Campy style. See the photos under both styles I sent the Shimano back for the Campy so I didn't have a cold zipper spot.
