Anyone who discusses must buy!

My engine arrived at 3:16. It's 4:49 am and I've just finished sewing a 9-10 ounce garment using leather, nylon fabric and latigo. Time includes testing the engine before fitting, removing the old engine of course, and I have never fitted an engine (always bought whole packages, fitted and delivered). As a complete neophyte engine (but pretty good with tools) and with no installation instructions, it buzzes (well, it doesn't buzz!) and performs much better than I expected. Everything fits perfectly, all screws are in the right place, the linkage adjustment is more than sufficient for my car (Consew 206RB). A set of socket wrenches and crescent wrenches (you can omit socket wrenches, but this saves time), a Phillips screwdriver and preferably a drill for the pilot holes are all you need. The holes in the table match up perfectly and you only need to put two screws in the new location for the control box. The machine huffs a bit on heavy leather but never stalls, even at very slow speeds. Increase the speed a little and the leather stitches just as well as my clutch motor. A small caveat: I would have preferred the speed control via a dial rather than a button. I'd sew leather slowly, but nylon is much faster, and I switch back and forth a lot, so pressing the button (or pressing and holding, holding and holding) becomes obsolete. But for the price, the quiet (it's so beautiful) and the performance at this price point, I'll push the button. As one person said, don't think about it, just buy it. Using a clutch motor is like you've just stepped out of the Stone Age. Additional Info: I used it daily for about two months. It still works perfectly and my electric bill seems to have come down about $7 a month and I can't put it down to anything other than the clutch motor not running all day. So in a few years it will be free!

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Boring packaging
