A few tips on how to avoid disappointment with this product

This item arrived scratched, missing a washer and was initially awkward to use. After some trial and error, it works very well for me. Here are some things I learned to get the process working: 1. Yes, the circle cutter is weak and frustrating. Cutting CLOCKWISE, however, helps a lot. I was ready to just throw it away if I cut counter-clockwise. Realizing this, I keep it, but don't appreciate it. 2. A metal rod protrudes from the top of the die parallel to the table. In order for the dies to fit together completely and snugly, this rod needs to rotate all the way to the left when using the left die and all the way to the right when using the right die. (This was not mentioned in the instructions and appears to be critical to the operation of the machine.) 3. Thicker paper (compared to carbon paper) gives better results. I also use cotton for quilting.4. First, I squeezed the die lever as hard as I could with all my weight. Once I learned to rotate the horizontal metal bar (as mentioned in point 2 above) it became completely unnecessary. If everything works well, a light push on the lever is enough.5. (Not a tip, just a comment :) The plastic backs of the buttons have large holes that allow the stylus to move. It can be difficult to get the pin to open and close without bending the metal a bit.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • dull packaging
