In fitted baseball caps and Tilley hats, I buy size 8 or 8+ because I've never found anything bigger. Sometimes they run small and don't fit. I used to just settle for a tight fitting hat. I ordered this hat with noting more then the hope that it might work and be big enough. It is just big enough and like my Tilley hats, it seems to be stretchable to fit very comfortably. Only had it for a few days and today my heat in the vehicle went out. The hat was a God send. Very comfortable. Two negatives. the chin strap is just barely long enough. I'll either lose flab in my chin or add a piece of material to make it longer for comfort. It does buckle and hold for now. The second is where the bill meets the top portions right in the middle. There is a bump where three pieces are attached and if the hat is worn tilted up, it puts pressure on my forehead.
