Review on 🚴 Giro Trans BOA Road Cycling Shoes for Men by Stephen Johnson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice show with mediocre buckle design

Fits and feels comfortable EXCEPT BOA buckle. The ankle has too thin tongue padding underneath and soon becomes uncomfortable once you tighten your shoes and ride any track. I've even tried stuffing the moleskin tongue and making sure all my socks close way past where the wire closes to maximize the extra padding, but the wire still cuts even on a 15 mile ride. The rest of the shoe is fine but the closure fails because the tongue design is probably very cheap to make but too thin to properly protect the ankle from the top wire garrote. I would not buy again due to closure, even from the Giro store itself. I am tempted to go back to a pair of 6 year old Bontrager boots and keep these "spare" shoes as spares in case the Bontrager ratchet and the Velcro or the boot body fail.

Pros
  • ELITE FEATURES AND COMFORT: High performance road shoe with quick adjustment and comfortable feel
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other models
