I bought this small USB-C dock to replace an old and much larger one I already have. I've been using it every work day for about two months now and I can say I'm VERY happy with it. Here's why: Benefits -----* FAST! All ports on this USB-C dock work and work well. Since it's USB C, you don't even need to install drivers like you did on old docks with USB A GB/s) - 1x USB 2.0 (theoretical max throughput 480 MB/s) - 1x USB-C connector - I've always used it to power the dock and then my laptop, but it also supports 10 GB/s throughput * Two HDMI outputs. I used this USB-C dock to connect two external HDMI monitors in addition to my laptop's built-in display. USB power cable in. However, it's nice that it works in both powered and idle modes.* An integrated USB-C cable that folds neatly into the case when not in use. Very, very cool.* Small and light. See the picture I included in this review for reference. * Clean, minimalist industrial design. * Excellent build quality. * Excellent user manual. Cons ----- * The built-in USB-C cable is quite short and cannot be replaced when worn out. That means the entire dock is junk once the USB-C cable fails. It's not eco-friendly at all, and I don't like it. Tips ----- * Some ports only work or run at full speed when this USB-C dock is connected to an external power source. . To do this, I connected my laptop's power adapter to a USB-C dock, and then connected the USB-C dock to my laptop.* The HDMI ports on this USB-C dock only work with devices that use DP Alternate Mode . This disqualifies most smartphones and tablets, as well as some laptops. I haven't had any issues with my (rather old) Lenovo and Dell laptops. Overall I am very happy with this new USB-C docking station and would buy it again or recommend it to a friend.
