Review on Cootree Bluetooth Headphone Resistant Microphone by Carmen Rosario

Revainrating 2 out of 5

It used to be great - second pair I bought are VERY disappointing!

I first bought them in 2014 and they worked perfectly, but they finally broke down a few weeks ago (the battery didn't hold a charge, or at least they shut off after 2-3 minutes). I figured if I could get 6+ years on a $20 pair of headphones that was a good deal so I recently bought another pair. Well, unfortunately they have changed for the worse. Here are the issues I'm having with this second pair that I NEVER had with the first: 1. There's no beep in "pairing mode" like before, so you have to take your headphones off to pair them (so you can check be able). alternately flashing blue/red LED that they are in pairing mode). 2. Initial pairing works great, but once you turn them off, reconnecting becomes a pain when you turn them back on. On my previous pair, I just held down "MFB" (multi-function button) until I heard a startup chime. and then I hear a short "beep" for a few seconds to confirm the pairing and I'm ready to go. With this new pair it says 'connected' but doesn't (if you check Settings > Bluetooth [I'm using iPhone/iOS] it says 'disabled' next to the headphones. Sometimes it even says 'connected' in the menu "Settings" > "Bluetooth" but when you press the play button on the headphone or iPhone, the song/podcast/etc shows that it is playing but there is no sound in the phone - or Headphones! button on any device, or keep turning off/restarting the headphones until they finally decide to connect, and when they do, they decide to turn the iPhone's volume setting (full volume) The ONLY reliable way to pair them every time is to literally go to Bluetooth > Settings, the "i" next to the head handset and press "Forget this device" and then go through the initial pairing process again Don't let press and hold to fast forward or rewind. You ONLY go to the previous or next track. Seriously, why on earth did they remove the ability to fast forward or rewind? It's just completely pointless.4. The sound skips or cuts out for a second or two EVERY time a new track starts playing.5. The EQ on them is more bass-heavy than on the original pair, making songs sound muddy and less clear. Not bad, but definitely noticeable. I've tried them on two iPhones with the same results, so the problem is definitely with the headphones. The ONLY positive thing I can think of is that they still fit and feel good and the buttons feel good. But unfortunately, pairing issues, lack of fast forward and rewind, and skipping issues are major deal-breakers. I just hope I can find another pair of over-ear headphones like this one that work just like the original pair. I've used them literally for hours most days of the week in all weathers with no issues but unfortunately the manufacturer didn't leave them alone and now they just aren't worth it anymore.
