Battery is dead

I purchased this kit along with a Vantrue dash cam for my 2020 Subaru Outback. Installation was easy and my front and rear camera cables are completely hidden as nothing is plugged into my car's internal outlets. Because of that, and the flat cameras nestled against the front and rear windows, the entire camera system looked like it was OEM equipped. So I'm very happy with how everything looks. So why 1 star? Because the battery regulator doesn't work! I connected to the internal switch line which is always hot even when the machine is off. This means my dashcam can record in parking mode. Spring. My new battery in my new car was completely dead twice. The first time it happened when I traveled in January. The car was in my garage for about 3 weeks and the car door wouldn't even open when I got back. I started it and drove about two hours. Everything seems fine, the car drove every day. I've recently started working from home due to the virus outbreak and I'm out in the outback maybe once a week to run some errands. I drove another car last weekend so Outback sat for a week and a half and now it's dead again. I took it to Autozone to see if they could do a battery test to make sure it still had a charge. I was told the battery is 0% charged and they can only tell if it can be saved if it is 60% charged. So my battery is now being charged at the store but I think it's probably gone as it even had some kind of yellow liquid discharge on the positive terminal. So I'll probably have to shell out another $200 for a new battery if Subaru doesn't cover it. So this lousy kit allowed the dashcam to completely drain my battery to 0% twice. Now I connected it to the cigarette lighter socket on the fuse board so there is no power when the ignition is off. That means there's no park mode, and it also means this thing is nothing more than a long cable with a USB connector, which should cost around $5.
